How To Check The Status Of Your Tax Refund In Maryland

The 2025 Tax season is upon and soon Marylanders can expect to see their tax refunds hit their accounts.
How quickly should you expect your state return?
The IRS and the State of Maryland began accepting all Business tax returns on Jan. 25. Additionally, the IRS and the state will start accepting all Individual tax returns on Jan. 25.
Full tax return processing is expected to begin on Feb. 1. Below is a statement from the Comptroller of Maryland

Individual taxpayers can check the status of their refund by visiting the Comptroller of Maryland website, or by calling the automated refund inquiry hotline at 1-800-218-8160 (toll free) or 410-260-7701.
Wait at least 10 days from acceptance of your return before calling Taxpayer Services Division at 1-800-638-2937 (toll free) or 410-260-7980.
You can check the status of your state return here. Maryland’s site will ask you to enter the exact amount of your expected refund in dollars and cents. The refund date you’ll see doesn’t include the days your financial institution may take to process a direct deposit or the time a paper check may take to arrive in the mail. If you’re concerned, contact the Comptroller of Maryland.
