Police at the University of Maryland say a former student who worked at the police department tipped them off to a current student’s online threats of a shooting rampage.

Detectives worked through the night to trace the messages and on Sunday morning arrested 19-year-old Alexander Song, a sophomore honors student who police believe was responsible for the posts. Song was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
